The Lujiazui Green is an expanse of well-groomed grass in
front of the office towers that flank one side of the Lujiazui
neighborhood of Pudong. Lujiazui is the self-proclaimed
Wall Street of China and lies directly across the Huangpu
River from the older Puxi district. Unlike cramped Puxi,
Pudong is new--most of the giant avenues and high-rise districts
did not even exist prior to 1993. Increasingly Shanghai
residents (particularly car owners) seek out this area for
its spaciousness and green parks. Next
